The Hogfather

I knew there was a fantasy world known as 'disk world.' Honestly, though, I'd never pursued the series. The first time I heard of it the name didn't catch my interest. 'Disk World' uh... that's great.... ummm... so I think I'll go read about Pern and the dragon riders now.

Well now I'm interested. All because of a little web comic.

According to the internet the author is adi-fitri from his tumblr of the same name. I couldn't verify.
This scene is supposedly from the diskworld book 'Hogfather' and I am now incredibly interested in finding and reading this series.

For those of you who don't know I kinda don't like Christmas and I have a slightly morbid sense of humor. So the idea of Death taking over Santa's duties while ol' Saint Nick is MIA tickles me greatly. Also I don't like how people overprotect children; they need to have age appropriate levels of responsibility and consequence.

Now to find a good used book store. And remember my lovelies~

Of Other's issues and a Dragon Lance

Of Other's Issues....

For some weird reason I am a pillar, a psuedo big sister, a real big sister, and mother hen. I do not see these things in myself nor do I honestly relate to anyone who does. Everyone else sees these things in me though, and that means that I am going to be present for all of their issues.
Now, mind you, this isn't always bad. Often times I enjoy being able to help out a friend or give comfort over the phone or tell some one they're being ridiculous.
The thing that bothers me is: I don't know where they're getting this image of me from!
"You're so deep and wise." Acutally I was just stating the obvious from an outside perspective. And really I'm not that deep... most of my thoughts come in comic book form.
My insides probably are three times as scrambled up as those who come to me for hugs and some how I'm supposed to help them get their insides in order.
Well... if there's no one else to do it, might as well be me.
Maybe I should go to school and get payed to listen to other's issues. God knows I do it enough already.

and A Dragon Lance....

So I'm reading the Dragon Lance books for the first time. Can anyone tell me why Raistlin is so freaking popular?! Missy? Anyone?!

Of Aligators and Blue Days

Of Aligators...

I don't know if it's because I grew up in mountainous regions of the world, maybe because I never visited a swamp or wetland, or maybe it's because I'm not a water person, whatever it may be when I saw an Aligator on the bank of the pond that is, litterally, a stones throw from my apartment I froze. I stared. I contemplated throwing something at it to make it move. Then I had thoughts of it running across the grass and gobbling up Kaba and promply picked up said puppy and retreated.
Later, with camera in hand, I came back out to make sure it wasn't a hallucination induced by the massive ammount of reading I've been doing in lieu of having a job. Nope, it was still there, with one of the gracefull white birds standing in lunch range of the toothy monster. I'm usually not this cowardly, but I have a little more than the usual healthy respect for things that can swim faster than I can run. And don't forget the teeth. TEETH!
I now have a few pictures, they're not very good because got forbid I get closer than 12 meters to the Aligator. Maybe I'll get a better camera, with a better zoom, because otherwise the five crappy shots I took are going to be the best ones I get.

And Blue Days...

Ever just had a blue day? You know, that day you wake up and nothing is out of the ordinary, but a cloud just kinda tints everything in a slightly less than happy light? Yeah.
I've been reading a book series called "Dragon Lance" yes... it is a Dungeons and Dragons type nerd book... no... I'm still sane, I think. I finished the core trilogy today and instead of being all happy and stuff I was just sad. Sad that the books were finished, sad that there's no place for me to learn swordsmanship and not be deemed a raving nerd, sad that there's no adventure in this day and age. Everything costs money, lots of it, oh well.
At least blue is my favorite color! (^_^)
