Scenes from a Marriage # I've lost track

Jex and I have been spring cleaning recently. Trying to really get rid of crap that has started to accumulate in our lives.
While on this road crawling with dustbunnies and surprise spiders Jex decided he would take on our little reading nook. All by himself. For a long while all was well, then he called me over to organize my books the way I wanted them.

This is what I was greeted by.

The Book Tower; Architect: Jex. Built in commemoration of Ashes' excellent taste in literature.

Sunshine 2013

Jex and I had to go to the Sunshine State for some stupid military stuff. So we decided to make a trip of it and visit our super rad friends who we miss so dang much!
You remember the posts I did about a year ago about the long ass trip we took from one coast of the U.S. to the other right? Riiiight? Yeah them.
This time we got to fly. Yay! So it took 1 rather than 4 days. Well it would, if we could ever get out tickets squared away.
There's this funny thing the military likes to do: completely forget about the dependent. Doesn't matter if you're the spouse, child, or mother who lives with ya'll because of extenuating circumstances, if you are not the military member they sometimes forget that you exist. After weeks of talking to every person we got handed off to and promised that the tickets would be taken care of the day we were supposed to leave I still had no ticket, as far as we knew. We decided to just go to the airport anyways, maybe things would work out for the best.
We walked up to the ticketing counter and to the person behind the weird castle wall they've got going on. Lo and Behold, I had a ticket! YES! But Jex's ticket had been refunded. The travel office opened 30 min before our flight was supposed to leave. So we waited and called and waited and called again and prayed and waited and someone picked up the phone! After about 10 minutes the super rad chick at the travel office had Jex a new ticket and we were off. That chick is so getting cookies.

We got to Sunshine, not many problems later and waited for Cait not to DIE driving through the scariest city on the west coast. Then we drove 5 hours north to where she and her lovely little fam have made home for a little under a year now.
It was soooo good to see them again. God knows how much we've missed their distinct and shiny presence in our lives. Cait is the only one who can take my complaining for what it is, venting. Then turn around and give me super radtastic advice. It also helps that we're kinda married to the same person.
Whoa, whoa now. We're not actually married to the same person. Our husbands just tend to be semi-clones of one another on the personality level a lot of the time.

Pterodactyl and Kitten have gotten so BIG! They're still the most adorable things ever. Pterodactyl is talking now and she's super astute. Kitten is in danger of being sold from time to time, but he's still the sweetest snuggle bug. Two is a hard age.

Then we drove back to where we had to do our thing. Bought armloads of Japanese goodies from the super cool Japanese mall we found. Melon Cream Soda how I've missed you!

Now we're home, cleaning everything, trying to downsize and get rid of unnecessaries.

Picture time!

Everyone loved these silly disguise glasses

Remember these magical toys?

Best Picture Ever

Kitten was tired. He is also made of lead.

Underwater shot with the super rad Olympus Tough. I love that thing.

Pterodactyl's favorite things right now are sharks. She's so awesome.

This Jellyfish reminded me of a wedding gown

Hurry take a picture, we're passing the Dreamworks Studios!!! Oh we were so lost.

What? Me addicted to Japanese junk food? You must be confusing me with another dashingly handsome fellow with an armload of goodies.

Taiyaki Pan! It was so hard not to buy this

And this guy.
I would've gotten a better picture but we literally ran from one flight to the connector and barely made it

Have a lovely week all of you.

What I've Neglected

I should have named my blog "the Lazy Blogger" rather than its current (slightly awesome) title.
I thought about it actually, but there's probably some one else out there who already snatched up the title and blogs way more often than I.

I finally got around to downloading the pictures I took at Storm Con! Three cheers and all that for it only taking me right around a month to hook up my camera and external to LOR. (LOR is what I named my super rad tower computer... I did tell you that I built my own computer right? RIGHT?!)

Jex and I just got back from a totally awesome Sunshine trip. Which I will type up a post for before we leave day after tomorrow for SandLand again. I feel kinda lucky, I get to take 3 whole deep breaths before leaving this time.

Oh, and our car is on the fritz. Yeah. I'm not happy about that. It's a 2010, it shouldn't be falling apart yet! Today while in the middle of driving home the gas pedal just stopped working. Then I thought I could make it to the butcher, nope. About halfway there the engine just stopped. Thank GOD I was able to coast the car to a good out of the way spot. Silly me, I decided to try again, I was nearly to the butcher anyways. A third time the car simply forgot how to run properly, luckily, a few hundred feet uphill from a church parking lot.
I apparently need my meat, because I kept going to the butcher, made it there, and home again with no further incident.

This does not exactly bode well for the 300+ mile trip we have to take the day after tomorrow. At least we have roadside assistance, so if it really does die we won't be stranded for 8 hours or more in the middle of nowhere. *Knock on Wood*

Anyways, you came here for pictures or something.
There shall me more next time!!!

This is the StarTreck Battles game we played. Jex and I were Klingons and totally won by the skin of our teeth. It was pretty cool, I won a mug.

I just liked this image. Didn't play the game or anything.

This is called a benny. A battle for Oz benny, you get to buy second chances and other cool stuff with it.

Here's the game board we played on; really really fancy stuff.

And photobombed. But that's me and Pheonix being pals and some loud young RPer.

Pheonix and her character cards.

One of the vendors decided to cosplay the last day

She's a fluttershy.

God is good, but don't dance in a small boat.
Till next time my lovlies!

I no Spy

I wanted to join in on the pictury fun this week.
.... but I haven't seen a single creepy crawly in England...
Not a single one! I've heard stories about them, even in the news here recently they were talking about the sudden boom in the insect population. Oh wait I take it back, I saw a honey bee and a fly today when in BigBen's Parent's garden (that's what they call the back yard).

Sooo My Choice?

Ah whatever, Here are some England pictures.

We had tea/lunch at a little place inside a woman's clothing store. Not kidding it was like having a bistro in the middle of a JCPenny's Misses section

And this was in the middle of a place called Kingslyn there was this church. I love Circles and the window was full of them so I had to take a picture

When I saw these signs my mind played havoc with me. Apparently my brain doesn't care to read in straight lines. My brain decided that the signs should read: "Keep mad as a Rock and Carry a Hatter"

Why Yes I am... If Scrummy is a good thing...

This is right up there with Moss Burger in Japan. Wimpy burgers for everyone!

The light heart lives long.... and carries a hatter.

I Spy (late)

In the words of Paladin J: GARGLECOX!!!!
I'm just going to pretend that the last few days never happened.
Whatever you do DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE J.EDGAR!!! Don't do it!!! It was so long and boring and So Much DRAMA I felt like my face was going to implode. Thank God I had a slushie and popcorn otherwise it would've been a complete waste. Pina Colada and butter are really complementary flavors, my tongue was happy even if the rest of me was in purgatory.

About to dig in and do the TaxDance. Hopefully this time the IRS won't come breathing down our throats. I'm kinda freaking out though, this is the first time I'll be doing them on my own. And if the guy from the legal office can fubar our taxes then what hope do I have?! Eeep!
Hopefully it will turn out alright, because I'm not an idiot and I asked for help with the one thing that was baffling me. It's nice to look before leaping. *happy face*

I SPY!!!!

This week's prompt was Junk. I promptly renamed the prompt: "Things that make Captain Planet sad" and ran off to a place I found while walking the dog last week. Junk doesn't just make a fictitious 90's super hero with a blue mullet sad; it makes me sad. Part of me wants to burn it into ash so it can do some good. The other, more realistic, part of me realizes that I'll be arrested for setting the woods on fire.

And now everything is breaking on the Internet.... if it doesn't work this time it's just the one picture....

Haha! Success!!!

Poor Poor Captain Planet...

I Spy: Colors!

Yay! I love I SPY! It makes my weeks more happy when I'm looking for something different that hidden behind the grey backdrop of familiarity.

This week's prompt has been my favorite so far.

COLORS!!!!!

Typically I don't shop at Target. However, they tend to carry things I like/need.
Lo and Behold the moment I walk in the door I had to take a picture

And that's not all! Apparently the 80's have attacked Target's accessories.

I was going to show you my super awesome bathmat, but the dog kept getting in the way.
This was the last attempt before I gave up.

The stack of Candy I still need to send to Norie!

Come to think of it, just about everything in my house is saturated with color.
I must like it or something.
This is some of the stuff that's on the Television. A dragon statue, a Dungeons and Dragons character sheet in the background, and of course pretty rocks!

My Choice
This is not something Ashes likes to see.
Why?
Because Semi's are freaking scary!!! Not only that this is a Semi that still doesn't know what it's doing! That raises the fright level to x10.
Luckily Jex was driving
http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

Well that's all for this week.
Next week: Junk

Come jump on the bandwagon and snap some shots. Then Link up with Dazee!

I Spy~ UP!

I've jumped on a bandwagon of Awesome! Mostly because I'm a very visual person and I'd rather show a picture than talk about something.

I SPY!!! The super fun game of find, capture, and post that I play with Dazee and Christy. It's easy, simple, and totally fun. Get a camera, any camera, and take a peek at the prompt for this week. During the week snap photos that make you think of the prompt, be they crazy, psychodelically colorful, or thought provoking. When you're ready to post on Thursday snag the I Spy logo from Dazee, Christy, or me and link up with us. (I am still figuring out the link thing so you'll have to visit either of the awesome ladies mentioned above to do the linking.)
A picture is worth a thousand words; and all that. (^_^)

The prompt for this week was interesting.

UP.

I had a lot of fun trying different pictures and angles to get something that made me think of going UP or being UP and the like. But Jex and Kiyaba ended up taking the cake.

I heard my husband chanting "Up, Kiyaba, Up" turned around and witnessed our dog freaking out because she didn't want to jump onto the bench Jex was standing on. I whiped out my phone just in time to snap a picture of Kiyaba gathering enough courage to jump.

And now for my choice.

This is my hubby and Salthouse. They are THE SAME PERSON in almost every way. Look at their faces! AGH! But it works out because Salthouse's wife Druid and I are the same too. In any way that the boys are not the same they're the same as the other guy's girl and visa versa.
With our powers combined we create one whole married couple. Haha!

Next weeks Challenge is: Decorations and Your Choice.
